EDMOND, Okla. - At a Braum's in Edmond is a woman who lives to serve. Her name is Tanisha Harper.
Tanisha has a simple creed she lives by: "I believe it's my job to be a blessing to someone daily."
Tanisha also brings a smile and her giving spirit to work every day.
If someone has forgotten their wallet, Tanisha will pony up the money herself and pay for the ice cream, or breakfast or lunch.
One of the customers who forgot their purse a couple of times is Brittany Anderson, a regular every morning.
Tanisha was there ready to help Brittany.
And Brittany has seen Tanisha do it for others. That's why she nominated Tanisha for Pay It 4Ward.
"People like this don't get recognized. I know several people like this that, you know, who daily do something that deserves recognition but don't do it for that purpose. And so she's not ever going to be seen on the front page of the paper for curing cancer or saving a kitten from a tree," said Brittany. "But, she's paying it forward in a small community and making the lives of every day people better by her presence and doing simple things that normal people don't do."
After we surprised Tanisha at work, and Brittany presented her with the $400 award to Tanisha from First Fidelity Bank's James Boggs, there were hugs and tears.
Tanisha has three sons and the money will help with their Christmas this year.
But for Tanisha, there is a lot more to this than the money.
"You don't know peoples situation," said Tanisha. "You don't know what they're going through daily. We have customers that don't really have the money to pay for their food, I'm there for them."
Pay It 4Ward is sponsored by First Fidelity Bank.
