OKLAHOMA CITY – As the temperatures outside continue to plummet, the winter weather can take a toll on your vehicle.

AAA is inviting all drivers to stop by for free car inspections during its ‘First Day of Winter’ event.

“With a blast of winter air – and maybe even snow – predicted for Christmas weekend, there’s no time to waste in getting your car checked out,” said Leslie Gamble, AAA Oklahoma spokesperson. “Car batteries perform 35 percent less efficiently when the temperature is below 32 degrees. The holidays are no time to chance a low performing battery.”

During the holidays last year, AAA Oklahoma rescued 5,089 motorists who suffered from issues with their vehicles.

To make sure that you won’t have to call for help, technicians will be performing free car inspections on Thursday, Dec. 21 from 6 a.m. to 12 p.m. at AAA, located at 3625 N.W. 39th St. in Oklahoma City.

Officials say that technicians will perform free battery, tire and fluid inspections during the event. Organizers say all drivers are welcome, including those who are not AAA members.
