OKLAHOMA CITY - One person is injured after a shooting in northwest Oklahoma City.

Emergency crews responded Friday afternoon to an apartment complex near N.W. 39th Expressway and Meridian.

“There were two people in the car. One guy got out and started shooting into the car," said Lt. Ron Hendricks with Oklahoma City police.

The victim was shot several times and taken to a hospital, where is in critical condition.

Police said they are looking for a black male wearing a brown shirt.

A neighbor said crime in the area is out of control.

“I believe it has a lot to do with a lot of drugs from the apartments across the street," said the man, who told News 4 wanted to remain anonymous for safety reasons. "The Hudson Apartments and Mt. Vernon because it goes back and forth and back and forth, because they just had gunshots here, I think it was a week or two weeks ago.”

He told us it's hard to sleep at night.

“Lock all my windows up at night, and put my mother’s electric wheelchair against the door,” he said.

Authorities are still gathering information and working to determine a motive.
