Police investigating standoff in northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY – Police are investigating a standoff in northwest Oklahoma City.

Officials responded to the area near N.W. 13th and Youngs around 9:30 p.m. Friday night.

Police say a man barricaded himself alone inside a home with a knife and claimed he had a bomb.

The bomb squad came to the scene to assist but discovered the bomb threat was false.

The suspect had a history of domestic violence but it remains unclear why he was holding the police at bay all night.

The standoff concluded seven hours later around 4:30 a.m. Saturday morning when police took the suspect into custody.

Authorities are still investigating.
