PRAGUE, Okla. - An Oklahoma man has been attacked with a machete allegedly at the hands of his own stepfather. Now, he's in the hospital with a fractured skull.
Pottawatomie County officials said they were called around 9:30 Thursday night to the home in Prague.
Neighbors said they saw the man run down the street and into the woods and authorities have been searching for him ever since.
“It was like being in a living horror movie,” said Mary Logan, the mother.
Mary feels like she's living her worse nightmare. She said her husband, John Logan, attacked her family Thursday night with the machete.
“When he came in, underneath the pizza box, he was carrying two machetes," she said. “He made some very derogatory comments about he was going to hack us up.”
Mary said John also assaulted her a few days ago and that's when she filed a temporary protective order on him. She believes that's the reason he attacked her family.
“He entered the house and went to my son, Patrick, that was on the couch and started attacking him,” she said. “I came up behind him and shoved him. With the look on his face, it was pure evil. It was pure evil that came through that door.”
Mary's son, Patrick O'Ryan, suffered the fractured skull and a large cut on his arm.
Authorities said John violated the temporary order by entering Mary's home Thursday night.
Now, Mary wants justice for her son.
“Because of what he did to my child,” she said. “It's not right. He never did anything to him. He's been there to raise him as a dad since he was 6 years old. Now, he comes in and tries to hack him up.”
With John still on the run, Mary and her family are terrified. But, she's focusing on the fact Patrick is still here.
“It could have been 100 percent worse,” she said. “I could've been planning a funeral right now instead of worrying about whether he's coming out of surgery.”
Authorities believe John is armed and dangerous. If you know where he might be, call the Pottawatomie County Sheriff's Office.
