TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa County authorities say a teenager and a woman have been arrested in the fatal Thanksgiving Day shooting of a man by a person who was trying to break into the victim’s truck.

The sheriff’s office says in a news release that a 17-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday on first-degree murder and second-degree burglary warrants in the death of Staijjeck Helm. Bambi Ashley, 37, was arrested as an accessory after the fact.

Online court records do not show that formal charges have been filed against either suspect.

The sheriff’s office says Helm was shot in the front yard of his home about 3 a.m. Thursday as he investigated why his truck’s alarm was sounding.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots and told investigators that the suspect fled on a bicycle.

Family members told FOX 23 that Helm was a hardworking man who loved his family.
