Oklahoma City firefighters extinguish house fire near Midtown

OKLAHOMA CITY – Crews were battling a house fire near Midtown Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the area near NW 9th and Shartel just before 7 a.m.

According to the Oklahoma City Fire Department, crews that first arrived reported seeing visible smoke and flames.

Fire officials say a homeless man was staying at the vacant home, and was bootlegging electricity from another nearby home.

There were no reports of any injuries.

The fire has been extinguished. The cause of the fire is believed to be accidental.
