Man found with gunshot wound in north Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - Oklahoma City police are investigating after one person was injured in a shooting in a residential neighborhood.

Police responded to the scene near Western and Hefner Sunday afternoon.

"When officers arrived there was a subject in the middle of street with no one around, no witnesses," said Lieutenant Ron Northcutt with Oklahoma City Police.

Police say the victim, believed to be in his 20s, was shot in the back. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Police believe it started with an altercation between two groups of people taking place in the middle of the neighborhood.

"We have probably six other individuals that were involved in the altercation and we don't know where any of those are," said Lt. Northcutt.

Officials are still investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to contact police.
