OKLAHOMA CITY — Police are seeking information, hoping to locate a man who allegedly robbed a metro gas station convenience store with a machine gun. It happened around 10 p.m. Thursday at the Murphy USA gas station near South Western and 104th Street.
"In this particular case, surveillance cameras captured the suspect. He's armed with a gun, a very large gun,” said MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
According to police, the man walked into the store and asked the clerk for a pack of cigarettes.
While the clerk went to get the cigarettes, the suspect pulled out a gun described as a 'Mac 10' type weapon, according to the police report, and demanded cash.
The suspect then left the property northbound through the parking lot.
"Frightening situation, any time you have somebody come in, committing a crime like this, armed with a gun, pointing the gun at you, very frightening situation. Thankfully, nobody was hurt,” Knight said.
The clerk told police she is not sure how much money the suspect got away with.
We reached out to the clerk for comment. Due to company policy, she said she could not speak with News 4 on camera but hopes police catch the suspect soon before this type of terrifying situation happens to someone else.
"His face was, for the most part, covered. We're hoping somebody out there will recognize his clothing, or the type of gun he has or the way he stands and will be able to let us know who this person is because, at this time, the case is unsolved,” Knight said.
If you recognize the man in the surveillance photos or have information that could lead to an arrest, call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.
