Emergency crews respond to plane crash near Waurika Lake

WAURIKA LAKE, Okla. – Emergency crews are responding to a plane crash near Waurika Lake.

According to Sheppard Air Force Base, the T-6 Texan II crashed shortly before 2 p.m. Wednesday.

The pilot and copilot of the plane reportedly ejected safely and returned to base.

According to Sheppard, the aircraft was performing a pilot instructor training mission at the time of the crash. An investigation is underway.

Officials ask anyone who may find debris in the area that may be related to the crash to call Sheppard AFB Command Post at 940-676-2616. For safety reasons, do not touch or move the material.
