Amaya Ward is thrilled to be working at the legacy station KFOR Oklahoma’s News 4.

Let me introduce myself! I’m Amaya Ward and I am thrilled to be working at the legacy station KFOR in Oklahoma City. I was raised in Texas but fell in love with the Sooner State.

I’m coming to KFOR from KSWO in Lawton where I worked as a Multi-Skilled Journalist Fellow for five months.

As a student at the University of Oklahoma, I majored in Broadcast Journalism and was a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. I had the amazing opportunity to serve as the National Association of Black Journalists President. It was an honor to serve in that role and help coordinate meetings and welcome students who had a passion for journalism. During my time at OU, I also worked as a reporter on Capitol Hill for Gaylord News, and OU Nightly,’ OU’s award-winning student news and sportscasts.

I love storytelling, my favorite part of the job is all the people I get to meet and connect with. In my spare time, I enjoy watching any Real Housewives franchise, playing with my cat, and hanging out with people I love. I also love to attend Pilates classes, hiking and attending concerts!
