Kaylee was born in Chesapeake, Virginia but was raised in the international ham capital of Smithfield. She moved to Oklahoma City in May of 2022 to continue her passion for storytelling and ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
Before beginning with KFOR Oklahoma’s News 4 team, Kaylee worked at KVEO, the NBC and CBS affiliate in Harlingen, Texas about 30 minutes away from the U.S. and Mexico border. She was a morning and weekend multimedia journalist as well as a fill-in anchor. Some of Kaylee’s duties included reporting, producing, editing, and anchoring.
She graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelors degree in Mass Communications with a minor in Sports and Entertainment Management.
During Kaylee’s college career, she interned with the Gamecock Athletics marketing team, WACH FOX 57 as a news/sports intern, and the Lexington Blowfish baseball team as a personal reporter. She also worked as the Assistant Communications Coordinator and the Director of Communications with a semi-professional soccer team in Columbia, South Carolina called Soda City FC.
When she’s not in the field investigating or traveling for a story, you can find Kaylee going to concerts/music festivals, exploring different states, cheering on the Gamecocks, or digging into some Mexican food.
If you see her learning her way around central Oklahoma, either say hi or help her with directions as she says she can’t get anywhere without a GPS!
If you have a story idea, shoot her an email at Kaylee.olivas@kfor.com.
You can also follow her on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest news and life updates.
She is thrilled to see everything Oklahoma has to offer and what’s next in her journalism career.
