OKLAHOMA CITY – The 18th Annual Caregiver Survival Skills Conference is just over away!

The conference is designed to provide caregivers a break from caregiving and to help them learn techniques to handle some of the every day challenges and struggles of caregiving.

Oklahoma is estimated to have over 600,000 caregivers according to the AARP.

These caregivers, who often are family members or friends, take responsibility for a patient’s day to day care and comfort often involving helping the patient with basic physical and medical care along with communicating with the patient’s health care provider.

Many times this work is performed 24 hrs a day and 7 days a week without a break so caregivers can really be stretched thin.

The conference offers hope, encouragement, perspective and information to help caregivers also take care of themselves and the issues they are dealing with.

Jessica Welp from Sunbeam Family Services, Julie Davis from Concordia Life Care Community, and Lisa Ritchey from Home Instead Senior Care stopped by Rise and Shine to talk with us about the conference.
