Yoga has been proven to help reduce stress and improve flexibility but a new study shows that it may also help you survive a deadly disease.
Researchers divided breast cancer patients undergoing radiation therapy into a yoga group, a simple stretching group and a group that didn’t do either.
After six weeks, the yoga group had significantly less fatigue, pain and depression symptoms than the other participants.
Also, those who did yoga had lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol, which is linked to poor survival in breast cancer patients.
Experts say these findings add to the growing evidence that yoga helps control physical functions like breathing, blood pressure, heart rate and metabolism.
