MILWAUKEE, Wis. - Authorities say a 15-year-old boy is in custody for the murder of a 14-year-old boy.

Police told Fox 6 that the shooting was the result of an argument over a girl on Facebook.

Tariq Akbar, 14, was watching fireworks with friends when the shooting occurred.

"They were at the lake and some guys approached them trying to fight them," said Arifah Akbar, Tariq's mother.

Milwaukee Police Chief Ed Flynn says eight or nine shots were fired while officers were patrolling the neighborhood.

"They just got to shooting. My son was running and they shot my baby in his head," she said.

When they arrived, Akbar didn't have a pulse after being shot.

"Words can't express our frustration," said Flynn. "This is more than a crime wave, this is a social phenomenon."
