FORT SUPPLY, Okla.– Authorities say an 18-year-old man is dead after drowning at a local lake.

Officials say 18-year-old Johnathan Loftis and four others were swimming from a boat ramp to Coors Island at Fort Supply Lake around 4:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The water was choppy and Loftis began to struggle in the waves.

Two of the other swimmers tried to hold him up but were unable to keep him afloat.

Loftis went under the water and did not resurface.

Emergency crews were able to find his body in about five feet of water.
