SEMINOLE COUNTY, Okla. – Three people are dead after a car collided with a Konawa school bus, carrying the Jr. High girls softball team, in Seminole County Friday evening.

Two people in the car are confirmed dead as well as one child on the bus.

The incident occurred on US 377 and County EW 1300, shortly after 7 p.m.

Authorities tell News 4 that the car was driving northbound and attempted to pass another vehicle by driving in the southbound lane where the bus was driving.

Officials say both vehicles swerved in an attempt to avoid a collision, but ended up hitting each other head on.

Both vehicles were on fire when authorities arrived.

According to the Konawa Public School District, six girls and the coach were aboard the bus at the time of the incident and all were transported to a local hospital.

All other students as well as the coach have been treated and released.

A cause of collision is pending investigation.
