SAN BERNARDINO, Cali. — After a mass shooting that killed 14 people and injured 17 others, authorities are still searching for one of the suspects.

Wednesday morning, witnesses told police they saw three men with long rifles get into a black SUV and exit the parking lot, CNN reported, citing a law enforcement source.

An SUV matching the description was located Wednesday evening.

Police approached the vehicle and a shootout ensued. Reports say one of the suspects in the SUV was killed.

One police officer was injured, police Sgt. Vicki Cervantes told reporters. The injury is not life-threatening, she said.

Officials have not confirmed the incident is in connection with the mass shooting.

Authorities had a standoff with the SUV which, reports say, ended with the severe injury of a second suspect.

The third suspect got away, according to officials.

Authorities are still actively searching a residential neighborhood for the other man reportedly involved in the attack.
