ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Three teenagers were taken into custody after being part of ‘creepy clown’ prank.

Authorities tell KOB that a woman was walking into a Babies R Us when she spotted three men wearing clown masks, adding that one of the men had a gun.

She immediately called police for help.

When officers arrived, they say the teens dropped the weapon, pulled off their clown masks and began running across I-40.

Police eventually took the two 13-year-olds and a 14-year-old into custody.

According to KOB, they were all high on marijuana and were pulling a prank. They were cited with controlled access roadways restricted and were released to their parents.

Officials say the gun turned out to be an airsoft pistol.
