OKLAHOMA CITY—After five hours, a standoff on the city’s northwest side ends peacefully as a burglary suspect is taken into custody.

The SWAT Team surrounded the home on the 7400 block of Greenvale Saturday morning after a bandit barricaded himself inside the house.

Neighbors say the homeowner saw the thief breaking into her home.

Maurice Davis said, “She said someone broke into her house and barricaded themselves in with a shot-gun.”

Neighbors reported seeing four suspects, three men and one woman carrying items out of the home.

Davis said, “Her alarm system, I think she had cameras and they showed her. They called the police and when the police came and addressed themselves, the guy said he wasn’t coming out.”

Sgt. Jennifer Morris, with the Oklahoma City Police Department, said, “Officers arrived and located two suspects; took them into custody. A third suspect was located a short time later then taken into custody.”

However, the situation was far from over.

Sgt. Morris said, “Officers then received information on a fourth suspect that was possibly still in the house and armed. The tact team was activated; the fourth suspect was then taken into custody.”

Police have not released the suspects’ identities but all four are behind bars facing burglary charges.

Authorities say alert neighbors and the homeowner’s alarm system were the key to catching the crooks quickly.
