TULSA, Okla. – A four-year-old was killed by his family’s car in what police are calling a “weird” accident.

Police say the four-year-old was sitting in the passenger seat of his mother’s SUV when she ran inside to grab some money, the Tulsa World reports.

The child then put the SUV into neutral, causing it to roll into the street, police said.

The boy jumped out and ran around to the front of the vehicle.

That is when police say the SUV rolled forward and crushed him.

According to KJRH, the boy’s mother came out of the house and found her son covered in blood.

A neighbor heard the woman scream and immediately ran out to help.

“I knew immediately. I didn’t see anything but I knew with that type of scream, you just know it,” said neighbor Adam James.

Police say two other children were in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

Officers say the child’s death is a “weird” accident.

The case will be sent to the district attorney’s office, but officials don’t anticipate any charges being filed for the 4-year-old’s death.
