HOBART, Okla. – Authorities say they are investigating a deadly shooting that claimed the life of a 9-year-old.

Around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening, officials with the Hobart Police Department say they were called to a home in the 200 block of Monroe after learning about an accidental shooting.

Police say a 9-year-old girl found her father’s gun in a dresser.

As she was handling it, authorities say the gun discharged and the bullet hit her head.

She died as a result of her injuries.

At this time, the victim’s name is not being released.
