OKLAHOMA CITY – A man and a woman were arrested after a man saw them stealing packages from his neighbor, called 911 and followed them until police arrived.

It happened on Monday in a neighborhood near NW 58th and Tulsa Avenue.

"Apparently, I had been robbed, porch robbed, and they got some of my mail,” Donna Monk told News 4.

That’s how Monk’s week started, with a call from police letting her know some packages were swiped from her doorstep by thieves.

"I'm going, which package was it? Because I had ordered several things for Christmas and I didn't know what it was,” Monk said.

Turns out, the crooks stole $120 worth of Christmas presents that were delivered to Monk’s doorstep earlier that day.

Thankfully, a neighbor saw what was happening and jumped into action.

"He works at home and he knows I don't have a lot of company during the day, usually in the evenings and stuff but not during the day. He saw strangers and saw that my car wasn't in the driveway,” Monk said.

"You have a nosy neighbor, which we always preach is a good thing, nosy neighbor saw a crime being committed, led officers to where the suspects were. We were able to get them identified and get the property back,” MSgt. Gary Knight with the Oklahoma City Police Department.

Police arrested Toie Richardson and Chad Huggins and found several stolen packages in their car.

Monk told News 4 she is now purchasing a new doorbell system to, hopefully, keep this from happening again.

"It's got a video on it and they video whoever is at the door, whoever rings the doorbell too, and it sends you a message to your phone and you can actually answer the doorbell with your phone,” Monk said.

Both Richardson and Huggins were booked into the Oklahoma County jail on two charges of Concealing Stolen Property.
