EL RENO, Okla. - Call it a guilty conscience but a driver allegedly hauling thousands of dollars in drugs breaks into tears during a routine traffic stop.

Oddly enough, the water works came before the officer suspected a thing.

When the tears started flowing and the suspect brought up his mom, it was a dead giveaway that something was strange.

The puffy eyed inmate is Joseph Noble, and the story of his arrest is a real tear-jerker.

"One of our deputies stopped Mr. Noble," said Chris West, with the Canadian County Sheriff's Office. "We asked him, 'Where are you going? He was just extremely nervous and started to cry."

Noble didn't stop at tears; a bewildered deputy listened on as the suspect seemed to clear his conscience.

"He started crying and said 'My mother really doesn't need any trouble from me this time of year,'" said West. "I mean, that's not something most normal people say on a traffic stop."

The officer then became a pseudo-counselor, describing in his report how he actually had to console Noble in order to calm him down.

Meanwhile, a drug dog was called in to sniff out the scene.

"We actually found methamphetamines, cocaine, and heroin in the vehicle," said West. "Estimated street value of the drugs was around $75,000."

Noble was arrested and booked into the Canadian County Jail.

With a bond set at $21,500, he may not be able to reconcile with his mom any time soon.
