OKLAHOMA CITY - One lucky winner and a guest are in Las Vegas now, after winning a free trip to Sin City on Allegiant’s new non-stop flight from Oklahoma City.
Will Rogers World Airport welcomed some glitz and glam Thursday, to kick off Allegiant's nonstop flight to the city that never sleeps, Las Vegas.
"We're the entertainment capital of the world," said Shea.
A place that is known for big shows, concerts, gambling and more.
"The lights are so magnetic, it's hard to go to sleep," said Stacey Shea, Las Vegas Showgirl.
To kick off the new route that travels back and forth twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, wacky tourists were invited into a drawing for a chance to win a free vacation.
People had to be spontaneous.
If they won the drawing, they had to be packed and ready to leave Thursday afternoon.
"We're very happy that they're bringing a second city to Oklahoma City and we look for even more service for them for the future,” Mark Kranenburg, Will Rogers World Airport Director.
The competition was fierce, but only one person could come out on top.
"Of course, we all love to go to Vegas, nonstop makes it much better," said Susie Traveler.
To airport officials, this new flight for travelers represents economic growth in the metro.
"This is a great sign when an airline chooses to add a route in our community because it just shows that they have confidence that the economy is strong and that the people can and will fly," said Karen Carney with Will Rogers World Airport.
"Just another thing putting us on the map," said Rick Lewis, metro resident and flyer.
Many are planning to take advantage of this destination, like Susie Traveler.
"What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas," said Traveler.
Airport officials are confident Allegiant’s schedule to Vegas will expand in the near future.
Allegiant is known for their low fares and nonstop flights.
