American woman killed in beach attack in Grenada

ATLANTA, Ga. – An American woman was killed in a random attack while walking down a beach in the Caribbean.

According to the Royal Grenada Police Force, 39-year-old Jessica Colker was walking down the beach in Grenada with her husband when she was attacked by a man with a cutlass sword.

Authorities say Colker was killed before her husband could intervene. Colker’s husband managed to escape without injury and told police what happened.

According to an autopsy, she died from extensive skull fractures and asphyxia.

According to WXIA, Colker and her husband had just arrived in Grenada a day before the attack.

Officials say David Benjamin is being questioned for the murder after he turned himself in to police.. He was recently released from prison for serving time for rape.
