SOCHI, Russia – A Russian security analyst said two recent bombings in the City of Volgograd could have been an attempt to divert resources away from Sochi before the 2014 Olympic games.
The attack on Volgograd’s main train station Sunday and on a bus in the city on Monday claimed at least 34 lives.
So far, no one has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
Andrei Soldatov, security analyst, said, “My feeling is that it might be also aimed to distract attention of the security services from, from Sochi. And now the Russian secret services should presume during the Olympics that not only that Sochi would be under attack, but might be some other cities or towns also in central Russia.”
