Officers found the bodies in a closet, the youngest placed inside of a case and the other two boys wrapped in clothes on the floor.
The 29 year old mother, suspected of killing her sons, is being hospitalized for self inflicted stab wounds.
The woman, who police stated may be in the early stages of pregnancy, was treated at the scene before being transported to the hospital.
She is listed in critical condition, but is expected to survive.
Authorities were called by the suspect’s brother, who was met by the woman as he arrived home from work.
Police say she was frantic, talking about religion and that she had “found the answers” before locking him out of the home.
The brother forced his way into the home and found her bleeding from self inflicted wounds. He went to get towels for her injuries and came back to her attempting to drown herself.
Phoenix police spokesman Sergeant Trent Crump described it as “an absolutely horrific scene for the officers and for her brother to arrive to“.
