At least 15 dead, dozens injured in Somali after attack on hotel

MOGADISHU, Somali- According to Somali police Col. Mohamed Abdulkadir, at least 15 people are dead and 25 others are injured as a result of a car bombing and gun attack at a hotel in the Somali capital of Mogadishu, Saturday.

“They started with a suicide bomb and then stormed in. Now they are inside and the heavy exchange of gunfire continues,” Major Nur Farah explained.

Police report that most of those killed and injured were were civilian passersby and customers of nearby shops and a petrol station.

Fighting is reported to still be taking place inside the hotel, Somali police Capt. Aden Dahir said.
