STILLWATER, Okla. — There has been a steady flow of support and encouragement coming through Oklahoma for the victims of the Stillwater parade crash.

AT&T has teamed up with Oklahoma State University and Stillwater Medical Center Foundation to bring in even more money for recovery.

A text-to-give campaign will benefit the victims of the tragedy. A single text will donate $10 to the cause.

“While OSU and the City of Stillwater were devastated by this tragedy, it is truly amazing to see the outpouring of generosity and support from across the nation,” said OSU President Burns Hargis. “We truly appreciate AT&T’s effort to underwrite this mobile giving campaign, which will help provide aid to those affected by this horrific incident.”

Here’s how it works:

  1. To donate $10 to the Stillwater Medical Foundation’s #StillwaterStrong fund using your mobile phone, text STRONG to 50555.
  2. When prompted, reply to confirm the donation. (That second step is important – you have to confirm the donation or it won’t go through!)
Unlike other forms of donation, you can be sure your money is going to the right people.
“Donations will be used to assist victims and family members with medical expenses and critical needs. In the wake of the OSU Homecoming tragedy, we wanted to provide a way to assist with medical bills and other critical and supplemental needs of the victims regardless of where treatment was provided,” said Stillwater Medical Center (SMC) Foundation Executive Director Scott Petty. “
“Our thoughts and prayers go out to OSU and the Stillwater community. It is times like these that test our resolve, resiliency and strength as individuals and as a community. Oklahomans come through for each other in times of need. And this time will be no different,” said Steve Hahn, president, AT&T Oklahoma
Do keep in mind that a $10.00 charge will appear on your phone bill or be deducted from your prepaid balance. According to AT&T, all purchases must be authorized by the account holder, must be 18 years of age or older or have parental permission to participate, and message and data rates to apply.
Text STOP to 50555 to stop, or HELP to 50555 if you need assistance.
