IRONTON, Mo. – After several hours of searching for a missing toddler, neighbors found the boy’s body in a van on Wednesday.
KTVI reports that 3-year-old Titus Tackett wandered away from his grandfather’s home around midnight.
Search crews began looking for the little boy in the bitter cold, and his body was found 10 hours after he was reported missing.
A neighbor spotted Titus’ body in a van about a half-mile away from his grandfather’s house. His body was covered by a blanket.
Officials say Titus knew a lot about cars and may have been able to get into the van on his own.
On Thursday, a preliminary autopsy showed that Titus died of hypothermia. The coroner added that the boy suffered no internal injuries and did not have bruises on his body.
