Autopsy reports released for Broken Arrow family murdered in home

BROKEN ARROW, Okla. – The medical examiner’s office released the autopsy reports of a Broken Arrow family who was murdered inside their home in July.

On July 22, Broken Arrow police were called to a home after receiving a disturbing 911 call.

When officers arrived, they stumbled upon a horrific scene.

They found a 13-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite being critically injured, the girl told police that her eldest brothers had attacked her family.

Authorities discovered the bodies of 52-year-old David Bever, 44-year-old April Bever, a 5-year-old girl, a 7-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy.

All of the victims were stabbed to death.

“I was told knives, there was a hatchet, there was several different types of weapons that were actually used in the homicides,” said Cpl. Leon Calhoun, with the Broken Arrow Police Department.

Officials also found a 2-year-old girl, who was unharmed, inside the home.

Officers found fresh footprints, and eventually arrested 16-year-old Michael Bever and 18-year-old Robert Bever for the crimes.

On Monday, the medical examiner’s office released the autopsy reports for the victims.

According to the report, 44-year-old April Bever suffered the most stab wounds of any of the victims. The report claims she was stabbed 48 times, with 18 of those blows occurring in the head and neck region.

Her husband, 52-year-old David Bever, was stabbed 28 times with most of the wounds being in the torso.

The parents also suffered from blunt force trauma injuries across their bodies.

The child victims also died from multiple stab wounds.

7-year-old Christopher Bever and 12-year-old Daniel Bever were stabbed in the back, chest and shoulder. Christopher Bever also suffered a stab wound to the left leg.

5-year-old Victoria Bever died after being stabbed in both sides of her neck, chest, upper back and upper arm.

The alleged suspects, Michael and Robert Bever, are being charged as adults for the murders.

Their next court appearance is Jan. 22.
