AUSTIN – Officials believe an animal-loving teen committed suicide by letting a cobra bite him repeatedly.
Grant Thompson, 18, who worked in his family’s pet store, was found dead inside his SUV with an empty container that housed a cobra, KVUE reports.
An autopsy report obtained by KVUE shows that Thompson had “several bites” from the deadly monocle cobra on each arm.
The bites showed no sign Thompson ever tried to pull away when the snake bit him.
The medical examiner’s office says the position of the bites are consistent with someone letting the snake bite them on purpose.
The cobra’s venom caused paralysis leading to respiratory failure and death.
The snake was found dead a few days after Thompson’s death.
The report also showed that marijuana and amphetamines were discovered in Thompson’s body.
