OKLAHOMA CITY — Its fall but a baby boom at the OKC Zoo is making it feel like spring.

Among the birth announcements just today we learned there is a new litter of Red River hogs. This is an African hog named for the Red River in Africa.

Tara Henson, OKC Zoo Spokesperson, was in the KFOR studios with Linda Cavanaugh. Henson is here from the zoo to talk about the storks visits to the zoo.

There is a baby giraffe, baby hogs, and a baby elephant on the way.

Linda asks, “What’s going on?”

Tara Henson replies, “Let’s start with the Red River hogs. This is the third litter for Sir David Pigglesworth and Divit. They are a busy family.

Then there was a baby giraffe for mom Ellie. A six foot little bundle of joy.

And, there is a sibling for Malee the elephant. Women can’t complain about being pregnant for 9-months when gestation periods for elephants are 22 months.

Don’t forget, kids love the traditional Haunt the Zoo. It’s an annual Halloween event.
