OKLAHOMA CITY – The issue of gun rights is heating up again at the State Capitol.

A house committee has now approved a new bill designed to allow residents, with a valid concealed weapons permit, to bring their guns into the State Capitol.

The issue will now go to the house floor for debate.

Right now, only law enforcement officers are allowed to carry a gun inside the state capitol; all other weapons are banned.

Opponents said they’re concerned the bill could jeopardize the safety of everyone who works in or visits the State Capitol.
