MICHIGAN – Nine students are recovering after they were struck by lightning inside their school.

Officials say lightning struck the school, ran through the building and shocked the students.

Other students felt a lighter shock.

The building itself was fine but it did damage some of the electrical systems inside.

One of the students says she was washing her hands and touched a faucet in the restroom when she got jolted.

“I just stood there for like 10 or 20 seconds straight. ” I was out of it. I didn’t even know what I was doing and I just started crying. I was in hysterics, ” says student, Alicia Miller.

Two of the victims were standing by their lockers. They suffered burns on their backs.
