JACKSON, Miss. — The Skyride chairlift at the Mississippi State Fair has been inspected and reopened after a child fell from the ride Friday night.

Around 11 p.m. Friday night an unidentified 7-year-old boy fell more than 30 feet from the ride.

The child was rushed to the University Medical Center with compound fracture.

“I saw him drop. I saw a couple of people rush over so I came over and looked and I saw him laying in the ground with broken bones,” said fair employee Josiah Zetterholm.

This is the first accident that has been reported on the ride at the fair and there are no plans to make any changes, like seatbelts to the Skyride.
