PORT ARTHUR, Texas- A 12-year-old boy is being praised by police for his quick thinking when burglars broke into his home while he was inside.

Deion Murdock was home alone Tuesday when two burglars broke through the window at the front of his home.

He immediately called 911 and stayed on the line as the dispatcher told him what to do.

He said, "I'm in my mother's room right now. Please get here."

The dispatcher told Deion to lock himself in the room and hide in the closet.

He said, "I'm going to have to whisper now because I think they're coming in."

The dispatcher said, "You have any weapons inside the closet?"

Deion said, "No ma'am. Please hurry."

The 911 call took a terrifying turn as the burglars made their way into the bedroom where the boy was hiding.

The dispatcher said, "Okay, stay on the phone with me Deion. The officer's there, okay? I think they're gonna catch the guy, okay?"

Deion said, "It sounds like there are multiple people."

The dispatcher said, "Okay, be quiet."

When officers arrived, they spotted two men run out of the house and into the woods.

Those suspects were quickly taken into custody and arrested.

Deion said, "So, is the police officer outside the house?"

The dispatcher said, "Yeah, but stay inside the closet cause they're trying to find the bad guys, okay? You're doing good, doing real good, doing perfect. Your mom's going to be so proud of you."

Deion said, "This is actually the only think I could think of."

The dispatcher said, "Well, you thought well. You thought well. You're a very, very smart young man. You did a good thing."

Deion's mother was on her way to the town's housing authority when the break-in took place.

She said that she is very proud of her son's quick thinking.
