LEXINGTON, Okla. -- While investigating a car fire last weekend, Cleveland County deputies stumbled upon a possible moonshine still and stolen property.

It was an interesting set of circumstances for Cleveland County deputies in Lexington on Saturday morning.

They first responded to a car on fire at the intersection of 96th and York.

They found tire marks, which led them straight to a possible moonshine still.

The illegal spirit still was found inside a wide open shed right next to a stolen truck out of Purcell.

Cristy and Jimmy Lovell say, "Seems old timey to me. Like something you see on TV."

Deputies never expected to find the moonshine still or the stolen vehicle after responding to a car fire.

Neighbors down the street say they've always been suspicious of this house.

However, a possible moonshine operation never came to mind.

"Well that explains why everybody hoots and hollers and speeds when they go by,” says Jimmie Lovell. “Everyone who does that goes to that driveway."

When the ABLE Commission got a look at this picture, authorities immediately knew what it was.

Capt. Brent Fairchild, with the Able Commission, says, "Typically, they are found as a result of another crime and that's usually the way they're stumbled across."

Capt. Fairchild says this type of discovery is usually made in rural areas, which makes the Lovell's worry about what could have happened if their kids would have been the ones to discover it.

Cristy Lovell says, "Kind of makes us want to move to town."

Capt. Fairchild says the illegal liquor can be the biggest threat to anyone who drinks it.

If it's not made just right, moonshine can be lethal.

Cleveland County authorities are still trying to identify anyone associated with the possible moonshine still.

You're urged to call police if you have any information.
