NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – A police officer in Tennessee has been decommissioned after he was caught on camera threatening to shoot a man.

Authorities told WSMV that Officer Brian Birch is on desk duty because of the incident that was caught on camera.

Minutes before the traffic stop, Walter Fisher Jr. said he watched two men break into his car while he was eating at a nearby restaurant.

He went outside to confront the men.

At that point, someone at the restaurant saw that Fisher had a gun and called 911. The caller said he thought it was an AK-47 and that it seemed to be a domestic situation.

The 30-year-old father said he left the restaurant to head home and was stopped by Officer Birch.

After pulling over, another vehicle began recording the stop.

On the video, Officer Birch is heard saying, “Open the damn door now! I’m going to shoot you in the f***ing face. Open it!”

“I know the man’s trying to do his job, but the man could’ve shot me,” Fisher said. “You should never tell a person you’re going to shoot him in the f-ing face. You’re an officer of the law. I look to you to uphold the law, not break it.”

Metro police say there was no AK-47.

Fisher did have a semi-automatic pistol and a shotgun, as well as a valid handgun carry permit.

Fisher says he doesn’t want anyone to lose their job, but decommissioning is not enough.

“They treated me like I was a murder suspect,” he said. “You can’t treat everybody as a suspect. You just can’t.”

“Metro did a good job. I think the procedures they took when he stopped [my son] were inappropriate. It was uncalled for,” said Walter Fisher Sr.
