OKLAHOMA CITY – In August, we told you about a clinic that is helping veterans with PTSD by using Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy.

Patients go into a pressurized sealed chamber and breathe in pure oxygen.

To operate, the clinic needed money and after our story aired, a veteran stepped forward with a large donation.

“The letter is pretty neat. It says ‘an anonymous donation of $25,000 to the Patriot Clinic for the treatment of PTSD,'” said Karen Stark with The Hug’s Project and Patriot’s Clinic.

The generous donation will help treat veterans who are suffering from depression, PTSD and migraines for free.

The mood is shifting at the Patriot’s Clinic near southwest 23rd and Harvey.

“I’m happy because I’ve been singing as I’ve never sung before,” said veteran James Davis, a veteran.

For National Guardsman Michael Marteney, who suffers from chemical poisoning, he has a whole new outlook on life.

“I hate to say it but, I actually had a gun in my hand and said I can’t do this anymore and now I see the light. There’s actually some hope,” said Marteney.

The donation will only treat so many veterans. It’s up to the public to continue to raise money, awareness and help save lives.

“We can’t lose anybody else, it’s time to stop it all,” said Marteney.

Originally there was a state fund that was supposed to be used to help reimburse veterans for the cost of the treatment, but we are told that money was diverted to other funds after last year’s tornado outbreak.

To help donate to keep the clinic running visit or send a donation to The Hugs Project at PO BOX 30236, Midwest City, OK 73110
