Commercial vehicle fire closes southbound lanes of U.S. 81 near Kingfisher

KINGFISHER, Okla. – Drivers near Kingfisher were brought to a halt on Thursday afternoon following an accident.

Shortly before 1 p.m., emergency crews closed both southbound lanes of U.S. 81 after a commercial vehicle accident.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say a commercial vehicle was on fire and was blocking the highway.

Officials say northbound lanes of the highway are open at this time.

Around 2:30 p.m., troopers opened the inside lane of southbound U.S. 81.

However, they say it will be closed later when they are able to move the equipment.
