UPDATE: The Oklahoma Turnpike Authority says they have postponed Wednesday night’s lane switch. They have not yet released a new date for when the lanes will be switched.

OKLAHOMA – Construction crews will begin to shift traffic on the Turner Turnpike through the construction zone that is currently in progress to expand the Turner Turnpike to six lanes.

Beginning at 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, crews will begin to shift traffic to two new lanes eastbound from mile marker 209 to mile marker 210 and westbound traffic will switch from mile marker 209 to mile marker 208.

It is anticipated the switching of traffic will last through the midnight hour.

This is the first traffic switch in the new project that will add six lanes from just east of Bristow into Tulsa.

Traffic will remain on the new lanes while crews begin rehabilitation of the existing lanes.

Over the next several weeks, more new lanes will be added along this stretch of the Turner Turnpike.

Motorists should be aware of construction crews and reduced lanes during the switching of traffic and use caution.
