HOUSTON, Texas – A construction worker was taken to the hospital after he was impaled in the chest by a blade that was detached from a power saw.
According to Houston firefighters, the worker was putting on a new facade on a building near the Galleria when a saw blade shattered and a piece went into his chest.
Paramedics arrived and lifted him from the roof of the center using a Houston Fire Department ladder truck.
The worker was going in and out of consciousness as he was transported to the hospital.
Officials say the unidentified man was using a saw that construction workers often use to cut through metal or concrete.
According to authorities, the blade can become dislodged if it isn’t tightly secured while cutting a hard material.
