OKLAHOMA CITY - Convenience store was robberies happen everyday but, luckily, not ones like this.

The unusual crime went down at the Portland Express Mart near N.W. 36th St. just before 11 p.m.

"I was working as usual then this guy came with a kid looking at rentals," store employee Ali Mahdi said.

But Mahdi had no idea the man picking out movies was working on a script for his own crime story; that customer was planning to rob him.

"After he looked, he grabbed the knife and push me and started asking me for the money," he said. "He was using bad language and threatening me so I had to give him the money and whatever he wanted as long as he didn't hurt me."

After the man got the cash, he and a boy tagging along with him ran.

Mahdi called police.

OKC Police Lt. Don Holland said, "When officers arrived, we discovered that the suspects had fled on foot southbound."

For about an hour K9 units sniffed out the area as Air One looked from the sky.

"After an intensive search out, K9 was able to locate both of the suspects hiding under a car down the street," Holland said. "They were taken back to the convenience store."

But it doesn't end there.

"Apparently while on the run he called his wife to come pick him up," Holland said.

Officers said when the wife arrived to pick him up, she had no idea what was going on.

She was seen in video captured by News Channel 4 photojournalist Norris Kyles yelling at the suspect and taking off her wedding rings.

The young sidekick with her husband happened to be her 12-year-old brother.

The suspect was taken out of the police car for a brief moment to be identified by the clerk he allegedly just robbed at knife-point.

The 12-year-old boy was released to his sister but the adult suspect whose name hasn't been released remains in police custody.

No word yet on what charges he faces.
