CANTON, Okla. – There were some terrifying moments for our news crew covering a story in Logan County on Thursday.

NewsChannel 4 reporter Abby Broyles and photojournalist Gene Rickman were shot at by a woman who lives near a crime scene Abby was investigating.

The good news is that Abby and Gene are OK, despite the fact Abby says said the pistol was pointed right at her.

She called out to her photographer to take cover, and she was able to duck a split-second before the woman pulled the trigger.

Logan County deputies arrested the woman, Bobbie Meeks, and they are trying to figure out why she fired at our crew.

Meanwhile, Abby is safely home tonight, as is her photographer.

Abby was in Logan County as part of her investigation into a murder in Blaine County.

A witness claims a hitchhiker shot and killed 18-year-old Caylee Massey.

Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation agents are still trying to track down the hitchhiker, whom the witness allegedly picked up in Oklahoma City.

Another person, who was in the car with them, drove Massey’s body to Canton and told officials the hitchhiker shot and killed the woman during the trip.

They said, after the man shot Massey, he jumped out of the car and escaped.

The hitchhiker has been identified as Christopher Blake Scruggs.

OSBI calls Scruggs a person of interest in the case.

Authorities believe he may be also linked to a vicious assault that left one man with a fractured skull in Logan County earlier this week.

If you know where Scruggs is, contact the OSBI hotline immediately at  1-800-522-8017.
