JIM WELLS COUNTY, Texas – A sheriff’s deputy in Texas has been fired and could face charges following the death of his police K9.
“There are no excuses. There are no excuses,” said Sheriff Oscar Lopez, with the Jim Wells County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Lopez says Deputy Latham Roldan apparently forgot his K9 partner, Jolo, inside a hot car.
Authorities say Roldan left the dog in the car at the end of his shift on Sunday.
The specially trained narcotics K9 cost the department more than $5,700.
Now, officials say Roldan, who was fired from the department, could face charges for the dog’s death.
