OKLAHOMA CITY– We are learning more about the death of an Oklahoma toddler.

Police believe he was killed at the hands of his mother’s boyfriend, Tulsa dentist Bert Franklin.

Court documents filed Thursday reveal details investigators believe led up to it.

It is a story that has changed a few times, but new records state Lincoln’s mother “recalled hearing a loud noise coming from the downstairs living room upstairs” and that Lincoln was “alone…with her boyfriend, Bert Franklin, at the time of the loud thud.”

Franklin told police “the noise was from him throwing a small ball to the puppy in the home.”

The abuse allegedly happened inside Lincoln’s mother’s Oklahoma City home.

Documents also state Lincoln “was never awake after his time spent with Bert Franklin.”

Lincoln’s mother rushed him to Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, and he was transferred to Children’s Hospital in Tulsa.

Doctors there said Lincoln “had a high likelihood of dying.” A doctor also told investigators the toddler had “retinal hemorrhages in his eyes, severe swelling in his brain, along with severe trauma to his brain.” His skull was also fractured.

Franklin was arrested in Tulsa on a first degree murder complaint.

Documents also reveal Franklin “made statements in the past to Lincoln’s mother about his hatred toward Lincoln’s father” and “threatened to kill him and skin him in Bricktown and cut his penis off.”

Franklin lives in Tulsa with his wife and four children. Records state Franklin has been in a relationship with Lincoln’s mother for about a year without his wife knowing about the affair.

Franklin is facing a first degree murder charge and is currently behind bars in Tulsa, waiting to be transported to the Oklahoma County Jail.
