Oklahoma Department of Transportation says all lanes are now back open following the accident.

OKLAHOMA CITY- Drivers heading home from work may need to take a detour on a major highway.

The Oklahoma Department of Transportation says westbound I-40 is narrowed to one lane at the I-35 Ft. Smith junction following an accident.

As of 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, all ramps remain open in the area.

However, crews believe the lane closure could last into the evening rush hour.

Drivers should expect delays when heading into that area and use extreme caution.

Officials also suggest using I-240 or I-44 as an alternate route.
