HOLDENVILLE, Okla. – A day care in Holdenville is closed due to several DHS violations, including a child being injured at the facility.
Pictures of baby Bryson from Holdenville are circulating on social media.
The child’s mother confirms an incident happened at Sunny Day Preschool, and it sent him to OU Children’s Medical Center, according to her Facebook posts.
While Bryson’s mother doesn’t want to go on camera yet because it’s an open investigation, we obtained a copy of the DHS report.
In it, several incidents are mentioned, including a child leaving the facility unsupervised, inadequate meals for the children, an inaccurate fire inspection, a broken gate, unavailable records of arrival and departure of children and an injury to a child that happened back on May 19 and went unreported.
The report states the owners voluntarily ceased care.
Neighbors of the facility said they are shocked by the allegations.
“I used to work at this daycare several years back, and I always thought it was just a very good place for people to bring their children,” said Wanda Deere, who lives next to Sunny Day.
However, since then, the school has had several owners.
“I don’t know anything about the last owners or the people who are running it now, but I just assumed it was just fine because they’ve got a lot of customers,” Deere said.
We reached out to the current owners for comment but haven’t heard back yet.
